Nintendo confirms Mario and Luigi’s new voice actor

Nintendo has confirmed that Kevin Afghani will be the new voice actor for Mario and Luigi in its games. Afghani replaces longtime voice actor Charles Martinet, who announced his retirement earlier this year.

Afghani is perhaps best known for his role as Arnold in Genshin Impact. He has also voiced characters in other video games, such as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Baldur’s Gate 3.

In a statement to Engadget, Nintendo said that it was “excited to welcome Kevin Afghani to the Nintendo family.” The company also thanked Martinet for his contributions to the Mario franchise.

What to expect from Afghani’s performance

Afghani’s performance as Mario and Luigi is sure to be closely scrutinized by fans of the franchise. Martinet’s voice has become iconic over the years, and it will be interesting to hear how Afghani puts his own spin on the characters.

In an interview with X, Afghani said that he was “honored” to be the new voice of Mario and Luigi. He also said that he was “excited to bring these iconic characters to life for a new generation of fans.”

What does this mean for the Mario franchise?

Afghani’s appointment as the new voice of Mario and Luigi is a sign that Nintendo is committed to keeping the Mario franchise fresh and exciting. The company is willing to make changes, even to some of its most iconic characters.

It will be interesting to see how Afghani’s performance as Mario and Luigi is received by fans. However, one thing is for sure: Afghani has a lot of big shoes to fill.

Conclusion

Nintendo’s decision to hire Kevin Afghani as the new voice of Mario and Luigi is a bold one. Afghani is a talented voice actor, but he has a lot of big shoes to fill. It will be interesting to see how his performance is received by fans. However, one thing is for sure: Afghani is passionate about the Mario franchise, and he is excited to bring these iconic characters to life for a new generation of fans.

Additional thoughts

I am excited to see what Afghani brings to the role of Mario and Luigi. He is a talented voice actor, and I think he has the potential to put his own unique spin on the characters.

I am also interested to see how Nintendo handles the transition from Martinet to Afghani. Martinet’s voice has become synonymous with Mario and Luigi, so it will be interesting to see how fans react to the change.

Overall, I think this is a positive move for the Mario franchise. It shows that Nintendo is committed to keeping the franchise fresh and exciting. I am looking forward to hearing Afghani voice Mario and Luigi in future games.

  • Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
